CREWLINK FIELD NOTES

This release is all about speed at the two moments that decide how a field day runs: the instant a job gets assigned, and the moment it changes hands from the office to the technician. We spent this cycle listening to dispatchers describe where the day slows down, and almost every story came back to the same two friction points. Here is what is new, and why it matters for your operation.

Faster assignment rules

Assignment used to be the step where a good dispatcher had to slow down and cross-check everything by hand: skills, territory, availability, and drive time, one job at a time. The new assignment rules let you define that logic once and let CrewLink apply it instantly. Standard jobs with complete information now flow to the right technician automatically, while anything that falls outside the rule is flagged for a human to decide. The result is less time spent on the routine ninety percent and more attention for the exceptions that actually need judgment.

What is new in this area:

  • Rule-based auto-assignment for standard jobs with complete intake.

  • Clear exception flags when a job falls outside your defined rules.

  • Faster reassignment when the day shifts and a job needs a new owner.

Clearer handoffs to the field

A job is only as good as the information that reaches the technician. Too often, key details lived in a dispatcher's head or a separate thread, and the person in the truck arrived with half the picture. We have tightened the handoff so that everything captured at intake, including equipment details, access notes, history, and expected outcome, travels with the job to the technician's device. When a job changes on the fly, the update is pushed clearly rather than buried in a message, so nobody has to wonder whether they have the latest version.

Why we built this

Response time is the quiet metric behind customer satisfaction in field service. The faster a job moves from booked to assigned to on the way, the better the experience for everyone, and the less capacity leaks out through confusion and rework. These changes are designed to shorten that path without taking judgment away from the people who run your dispatch. Automate the routine, surface the exceptions, and make sure the technician always arrives with the full story.

Speed at assignment and clarity at handoff are small moments, but they set the tone for the entire field day.

These improvements are rolling out to all CrewLink accounts now, and no setup is required to start seeing faster handoffs. If you want to tune the assignment rules to match how your team actually works, your account team is happy to walk through it with you. As always, this release grew directly out of what operators told us, so keep the feedback coming.
